how to transform your life by creating a budget using smart goals – Budget Glow-Up Day #2
Are you enjoying Budget Glow-Up? Thinking about money can be hard and a bit intimidating. Let’s face it, we’ve all had that moment where we wish that we were making more money, where we wish that we weren’t ourselves. You were born you and no one else can be you. That is what makes you super amazing. Just because no one taught you how to budget or about money, doesn’t mean that you can just give up. Learning is the key to everything. I, personally, try to learn something new every single day even if it is a blip about something that I was curious about. We are always evolving that is what makes us unique individuals.
Now after the pep-talk. Let’s talk about SMART GOALS.
What is a SMART goal?
A smart goal is just that S.M.A.R.T.
S – Specific
M – Measurable
A – Achievable
R – Realistic
T – Timed-based
The cool thing about SMART goals is that they seem hard to setup, but once you figure it out, it’s truly easy.
An example of a SMART goal about debt payoff:
I will pay off $3,000 debt in 10 months by paying $300 (plus interest) per month by reducing my entertainment spending and not using my card.
That is a measurable goal, it has time, it has the amount of what needs to be paid off and how much is being spent, and what we are doing to fix our habits. You need to make sure that your SMART goal is realistic. Basically, if you have a lot of debt, don’t say that you are going to have it all paid off in a matter of months unless you have the means to pay it off. Think about ways that you could pay it off. That is where selling online might come in handy, but that is another topic.
Setup your SMART goal and we will talk about more tomorrow.
Sneak Peak: We are setting up our budget! Yay!
