How to Flip Products in Three Simple Steps
Frugalites!
It’s been an uber long time. I am sorry for the hiatus. I have been working hard on a couple of other projects and unfortunately our blog has been on the back burner. We have started an awesome group on Facebook! Join us there!

We love to have a diversity of people so no matter how much you make, join! The whole idea is that we are working together, building lives, and making friendships along the way.
This is the first of many selling product online guide.
Let’s get down to business!
1. Passion
Your product should be your passion. You should be able to look at an item and tell how much you could potentially sell said item for. Being able to understand how much you can sell an item for is crucial to your profits. Now you can just go to eBay to get an idea how much said item could be, but I want you to be able to remember how much that item sold for and then you can figure out similar items as well.
2. Buy It!
You need to figure out where you want to purchase your item from. There are a lot of different places that you can chose.
My favorites:
- Garage Sales – You can find really cheap items at garage sales, because people want to get rid of their stuff!
- Craigslist – Craigslist is a great place to buy and sell items.
- Thrift stores – One of my absolute favorites. Honestly it depends on the thrift store that you are going to, because some know their products, but some sell items for uber cheap.
- Auctions or estate sales – So we were at an estate sale a couple years back and found STERLING SILVER flatware! Yeah! Bought a massive bag full for $10! I was actually surprised that it was not inlaid silver, but actual sterling!
- Discounted Products – You can purchase items via couponing at Walgreens, CVS etc. and resell it. There used to be a lady that we would go to her garage sale and help her setup when I was a kid. She flipped all her couponing products at the garage sale! You do not even have to purchase grocery items, sometimes there are deep discounts that you can even do retail arbitrage to sell on Amazon! We will get to that later!
3. Sell It!
Time to get ready for sales! Plenty of places you can sell your “junk finds.” If you are doing this as a side gig, try to sell on free places first.
Free Places:
- Craigslist – Sell it on Craigslist! People still use it and it’s a good idea.
- Facebook Marketplace – Yeah! Sell those finds on Facebook Marketplace! Sometimes it is totally worth it!
- Letgo – A great app that you can sell items on as well locally.
Spend Places: These sites take a percentage of your sale.
- eBay – Definitely not free, but a great way to open the doors to a lot of potential customers.
- Mercari – More customers. Lots of items sell fast depending on what you are selling. App based, but has a computer counterpart. Easy to upload pics etc. to!
Bonus:
How to Ensure your Item Sells:
- Pictures are everything – I once saw an item on ebay where someone had a picture of their feet in the picture. Gross.
- Setup a background – This can be done by having a piece of vinyl background or a backdrop. You can purchase the vinyl background at Hobby Lobby or even a backdrop from Amazon
- Stage Your Product – Selling decor? Make it a homey feel. Make people feel like they want this product in their house. Collectible? Take amazing photos of each angle of the item. Collectors want to make sure that the item they are getting is quality.
- Fix Your Photos! – I cannot stress this one enough! FIX YOUR PHOTOS. No one wants a dark, dingy photo on any site and no one wants to buy an item with feet in the picture! Brighten up your photos and make it stand out! Apps could be A Color Story or Adobe Lightroom!
- Listing – Your SEO is absolutely everything when you sell whether it is Facebook, Amazon, Mercari, Etsy, eBay etc. You MUST have an amazing listing. You MUST be able to describe your item! If you are unable to describe your item then look up similar listings that sold and see what they put in their listing, but PLEASE DO NOT COPY THEIR LISTING. That’s all for day, Frugalites! I hope you have an amazing day and get selling!
